IT with a Social Conscience

Sika Solution's aim is to provide and support IT services for Social Care communities and to strengthen the capability and opportunities for vulnerable groups in society.

We believe both knowledge of specific social policy groups and a greater understanding of local authority requirements, are key in order to achieve the desired effect for the provision of IT services and the best outcomes for service users.

These include the following areas of social care:-

  • Looked after children in foster and residential care
  • Children with special needs
  • Adult disability
  • Young adults seeking employment
  • The elderly
  • Any vulnerable groups requiring unsupervised access to the Internet, e.g homeless

The Social Policy helpdesk is fundamental to the services we provide in these areas. A mixture of social care & IT specialists provide monitoring and support for the users of the systems, which are developed for their own specific user group circumstances.

The systems created for these communities are under constant development and therefore it is essential that the helpdesk team not only have experience of the technology, but more importantly all key areas of social policy.

Jennifer Scott, Senior Manager, Children & Families at West Lothian Council explains, “When providing a front line service it is essential to have an understanding of the difficulties vulnerable groups in society face throughout their life and understand the importance of providing a responsive, supportive and clear approach when dealing with enquiries. On this basis ongoing evaluation is vital, covering:

  • Planning to meet the needs of our clients
  • Delivering a service to meet their needs
  • Changing to meet the needs of our clients
  • Getting feedback on satisfaction levels

Sika Solutions provides the unique combination of technical expertise alongside the understanding of our social care communities resulting in the delivery of safe but effective systems.
